Sherman's Atlanta Campaign
"Atlanta Campaign" was the name given by historians to the military operations that took place in North Georgia during the spring ans summer of 1864 in the Civil War. Johnson's group had to keep Sherman's troops from advacning to Georgia. But things didn't work out very well. The president of the Confederacy was angered because Johnson wasn't doing what he told him to do. So he replaced Johnson with a general that could. But that general lost to Sherman's forces. Sherman believed that he could secceed for ceratin rasons. One: he had a larger troop than the confederate forces. Second: becasue he wanted to supply his troops with more amunition and food (that he could steal from Georgia.) During the first few weeks of the campaign, Sherman seized initiative and forced Johnston from one position to another.
