Cause on American Revolution, and Impact on Georgia
The Revolutionary War began in 1775 because of hostile conflict between the thirteen colonies, who wanted freedom from their ruler, Great Britain. At first, the colonies were proud of their ruler, Great Britain, but when the French and Indian war erupted Great Britain lost a lot of money, and proposed taxes on the colonies. The French and Indian war was a very long one, which is why it was also known as the 7 year war. It was started because of the French who kept invading the territory of the British. Then finally in 1763, there was a peace treaty that ended the long and dreadful war. It helped end some unwanted foreign rivals too. But as for the taxes that the king made on the colonies, they weren't too happy about the idea of having to pay for things that used to be free. This made the colonies very, very mad. They soon began to boycott on all British goods. Then, the king became furious. The king sent over soldiers to make sure that the colonies wouldn't do something to make the king cross again. But the colonies didn't stop protesting against unfair laws... Soon, the Boston Tea Party came into play. When some taxed tea was docked into the harbor, at night, the colonists dressed as Native Americans and they dumped out all the tea! Along with many other bitter wars, the Revolutionary War started. As for the impact it had on Georgia, it caused a dilemma, because many Georgians thought that they would need the protection of Great Britain under any Native American Attacks, and Georgia was also doing very well within the rule of the king. All the colonies were asked to ban all trade with Britain, and the Georgians held a vote to see what they would do. Georgia was divided by the decision they had to make. Btu when the battle of Lexington and Concord took place in Massachusetts, many of the Georgians chose to choose the radical movement. So, although Georgia had a hard time making one decision all together, it didn't have such a big impact on Georgia, until all the fighting broke out...but that affected every colony, not just Georgia.
