Highland Scotts
They British wanted a group a fierce and fearless warriors to come to GA to protect them and South Carolina. So they invited the Highland Scotts to come and live in GA. They had a reputation for being fierce and hard-working. They settled in the town of Darien in 1735. They helped GA defeat Spain in the Battle of the Bloody Marsh. The Battle of the Bloody Marsh wasn't big or bloody, but it was a very significant war. The Battle of the Bloody Marsh took place on July 7, 1742, when Spain and England had another small "skirmish" on St. Simons Island. This was the only time Spain tried to take over GA. So Oglethorpe, his army, and the Highland Scotts fought, and had a tremendous victory. Spain never tried to attack GA ever again.
