~The Blue Ridge~
The Blue Ridge Mountains region is located between the Piedmont region, and the ridge and valley region. It has the highest elevation in Georgia. The name "Blue Ridge Mountains" was given because, when you look from far away, the mountains have a blue haze over them. It ranges between 16,000 and 4,700 ft. It is the wettest region in Georgia, and has more than 80 inches of rain every year!! Because it rains so often, forest layer the area with thick trees. That is why trees are a main resource in that region. They have a long mountain chain that goes from Virginia and North Carolina, to Georgia.
