Mary Musgrove
Mary Musgrove was born in ca. 1700 and died in 1763. Mary Musgrove had an English trader as a father, and a Creek Indian as a mother. She served as a translator or a peace keeper between the English and the Creek. And to retain peace, she had a trading post in Savannah that she ran with her husband, John Musgrove. She took advantage to her unique parenthood and she help keep the Creek interest alive. She served as Oglethorpe's translator from 1733 to 1734. Her husband, John, died in 1735 and she remarried to Jacob Matthews in 1737. With the help of Matthews, she set up a trading post near the Altamaha River. Then in 1742, Matthews died too. Then, she remarried for the third and last time. She married Thomas Bosomworth. Since her husband was very important this meant that Musgrove got a higher social class now. She died in St. Catherine's Island in 1763.
